I Write Like...

So, I saw this neat little tool come through my Google reader this morning, then two of my friends posted their results on their blogs, and then I tried it. Rookie got Jane Austen and Miss Melissa got Margaret Atwood. I keep getting Stephen King... I have not read one single thing by Stephen King. Nothing. (To be fair, I tried a poem and got Oscar Wilde, and a rant and got J.D. Salinger.)

I don't know how I feel about this...

Well, I got Austen, Austen, Atwood, Joyce, Poe, Salinger, and...Dan Brown? I'm putting little stock in this other than as something fun to waste my time!

I have never read Stephen King either, but I can almost guarantee you do not write like him. I have never seen a dead pet or a creepy fan anywhere in your writing. :) I do secretly love that you got a Salinger for a rant and Oliver Wilde is always good! For myself, I was hoping for Whitman, but I'll take Atwood...I suppose. :)

I don't know... I do read the column SK does for Entertainment Weekly occasionally, and he is very smart and snarky. Freakish, though. Which you are definitely not!

I got Chuck Palahniuk... Do I dare admit I've never read him?

Miss Melissa: I was pretty okay with the Salinger/rant comparison, but no: no undead pets or cars or anything.

Julie: Thanks for the info (I'll take smart and snarky!). Also, yes: you can admit you've never read any Palahnuik. He did write Fight Club, so if you've seen the movie, maybe that's close enough? :)

Rookie: I'm a little ashamed to admit exactly how much time I wasted with this...

I love you, my dear writer friends!
